I was packing my bag while watching tv yesterday, when my little sis asked to switch the channel. We got a little argument as i refused to do so. They wanted to watch cartoon and I claimed to enjoy the 'AXN'. And at last, i surrendered. Of course I had to coz they are my sis.Huh..(bagi la peluang sebab dah nak balik shah alam)..'Hagemaru', that is the cartoon's name they are crazy on..Ever heard or watch that cartoon, guys??
Hurmm..Actually, I am not the cartoons lover, not even a fan. But I did realize something when I watched it..I was quite doubted on the message that 'Hagemaru' tended to bring for the watcher and of course, the one who love to enjoy it are kids, round 3 to 11 years old. Psychologically, at this stage of age, children prefer to learn and gain on what they see and hear from their surrounding. In fact, they are tend to imitate the behaviour of people around them, so as the characters that they do see in tv.
Yes, it is true, dont judge the book by its cover (as it was the first time I watched that cartoon), but first impression do count, right??..I was really dissatisfied and keep asking on the motive that the producer of 'Hagemaru' eager to show the audience. Just imagine, there were scenes where Hagemaru stole fish from his neighbour, he and his family lied to the guard at zoo by hiding in box just because they refused to pay for the ticket, he being rude to his teacher, he bullied his friends and so on. What was that??
Yes!!you will feel its really funny. Hagemaru will make you giggling, laughing and smiling over the scenes. Meanwhile, unrealizing, it also initiate the feeling of free and innocent towards kids in term to act as what Hagemaru did. Same goes to the animation series named 'Shinchan'. It dished the kids with the sense of sexual harrasement, bad habits, laziness and many more. Do we dream our next generation to be like Hagemaru and Sinchan?? Of course not, right?
It is nothing wrong for children to enjoy the cartoons as it is their natural tendency. But it is crucial for parents to look over it. 'Humour is one of the best tools for human's daily mood' but it might also harm your children.
I do think it is better for kids (my sis also) to enjoy the cartoon like 'Wonderpets', 'Dora the Explorer' or 'Upin and Ipin' as it bring a lot of positive messages to the watchers. Holding the motto of 'Apa yang penting??..Kerjasama..', Wonderpets for example do motivate kids to be helpful, think wisely before react and cooperate with others in order to solve any problems. It is also interesting and cute what?..There are sweet songs, sense of sciences and various of lovely characters in it.
As a sister, brother, dad, mom, aunt, uncle or what so ever, we cannot personally blame the Head of Management for this issue. Its just something useless. The most important action that we should count is how do we control our child from this 'negative food'. Let say our kids love to watch 'Hagemaru' and they will get angry if we directly stopped them to do so. Then our effort is, allow them to watch but at the same time, we must tell/advise them such 'You cannot do like that because .....' (give the reasons and explanation). So then they are noted and remember it is not good to do this and to do that. Instead, if we are able to avoid that kind of harm animation series, just do it. We have the rights and powers to do so, never deny it..
Wallahua'lam..
